The Motu Kaikoura Trust is proud to announce the official opening of their new lodge building on Saturday 23 March 2019.
The lodge has been built by ‘Women+Architecture’ in Auckland, transported by barge to Great Barrier, helicoptered on to the site, and then assembled by the women and professional builders.
We feel that this has been a great achievement for the architects (who won an architectural award for this design at the Architectural Awards 2018) and that this is a great opportunity to showcase what has been achieved since the purchase of the island in 2005.
We have booked a charter boat, Kawau Kat, which leaves from Sandspit, Warkworth at 9 am sharp. Everyone who has booked a ticket should report to the wharf by 8:30 am and we will depart from Motu Kaikoura at 3pm, for a return at approximately 5:30 pm. The boat limited to first 110 passengers booked and paid.
Due to a generous donation from the New Zealand Forest Restoration Trust the ticket cost is reduced to $40/person return.
Please bring your own lunch.
Afternoon tea will be provided after the opening ceremony.
All biodegradable and certified compostable food and beverage packaging used at the event is made from plants and kindly donated by Ecoware.
